Overview
Xalacom 0.005%/0.5% Eye Drops is a prescription ophthalmic solution used to help lower raised pressure inside the eye, also called intraocular pressure. Each formulation strength combines latanoprost 0.005% with timolol 0.5%, two established antiglaucoma medicines that work through different mechanisms. It is generally prescribed for adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension when single-agent treatment is not providing adequate pressure control.
Raised eye pressure can gradually damage the optic nerve and may lead to irreversible vision loss if not monitored and treated appropriately. Xalacom is not a cosmetic or routine lubricating eye drop; it should be used only under the supervision of an ophthalmologist or qualified healthcare professional.
Benefits
- Helps reduce elevated pressure inside the eye
- Supports management of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension
- May reduce the need for separate latanoprost and timolol eye drops when both are prescribed
- Once-daily dosing may improve treatment routine when used as directed
Key Features
- Fixed-dose combination eye drop containing latanoprost 0.005% and timolol 0.5%
